Change of Heart, Change of Mind: Eating Out

July 28, 2016

Hey guys!

So, to wrap up Plastic Free July, I wanted to talk about the last topic in our series.  Last, but most definitely not least, we’re going to chat about eating out; zero waste. As with everything else we’ve talked about this month, this takes intention and planning. That’s right! But, you got this, though. Remember, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Ok? Good. Let’s get right to it.

B.Y.O.B. – I know I’ve said this in another post, but for eating out, or in this case drinking out, don’t forget to B.Y.O.B. (bring your own bottle). Whether you’re having coffee (hot or cold), water, tea, etc., bringing your own bottle will allow you to keep waste at, you’ve guessed it, ZERO. Here at the links to a couple of options for you: Klean Kanteen, Thermos coffee tumbler, my fave the Ecojarz lid for mason jars, and Copco reusable cup. For stainless steel straws, check this out right here.

Reusable tableware: If you want to reduce waste even further, pack reusable plates, cutlery, napkins, and cups in your bag.

Pack you own: Lunch, that is. Yes, I know, this requires some effort in the kitchen, but not to worry. Follow me on Pinterest (link here) and get some great ideas for lunch. And, by the way, look how cute this lunch box is. If you need to go bigger this 3-tier Bento box. is for you.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our series on living plastic-free and zero (ok, actually less) waste, as much as I have. It takes some getting used to, but with a quick shift of mindset and of course habits, we’ll make a difference. Remember: one day at a time. Slowly but surely, we’ll get there.

I’d love to hear in the comments how your plastic-free July went.

Until next time…
