“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”.- African proverb
I’ve been thinking now, for a while, of the true meaning of simplicity. In my longing for simple, I’ve realized that simplicity has many different facets. The beauty of it all is that there is no one way of living simply. Although it may seem like it sometimes, simplicity is not a destination.Living simply means living slowly, being present intentional. It’s all about mindfulness. Life is about progress, not just accomplishment. Growth takes on a whole new meaning. Values resurface. Mindsets change. We strive for simple daily, with gusto, but there is a learning curve to it. It is not solely a matter of study but, a life principle we seek out even in the mundane and in the ordinary.
All of this sparked in me a desire to connect to others who are in this pursuit along with me. Whether we know it or not, we’re in this together. And chasing simple shouldn’t be something we endeavor alone. No. Not at all. I’m learning each day that simplicity calls us to do life humbly and to build each other up. This fascinates me. Our strength is most definitely in our diversity, and not in our similarities.
And thus, a series is born. I’m calling this one: Pursuing Simplicity. It’s an ongoing series (meaning there’s no deadline), better, a collection of stories from people I’ve been meeting in this journey of simplicity. It’s about their pursuit and longing for slow, simple and intentional lives. As told by them. I sincerely hope you join me here and enjoy the series.
